Privacy Policy
This page says what the FetchWise app keeps about you and your pets, why, who else sees it, and how to take it back. It follows India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. FetchWise never sells your data and shows no advertising.
What we keep
- Your account: the phone number or Google account you sign in with (for Google: your name, email address and photo), your name, city, language, and your own vet's name and phone number if you add them.
- Your pets: each pet's profile and photo, health records, vaccine and lab reports, documents and photos you add, medicines, reminders, weights, training progress and notes from Sage.
- Your phone: a notification token, so reminders and clinic messages reach you.
- Crash reports: when the app breaks, a technical report of what went wrong (Firebase Crashlytics). It holds no health records or chats.
We use this only to run FetchWise for you: to keep your pets' records, remind you, answer your questions and connect you with clinics you choose.
Location
FetchWise asks for your location only when you look for vets near you, or post or receive a lost or found pet alert. For nearby vets, your position goes to our server once to ask Google for vets around you, and is not kept. For lost and found alerts, we keep a rough area of about 5 km, never your exact position. If you have allowed location, each time you open the app while signed in we also save that rough area (a cell about 5 km across) on your account, so a lost pet or blood donor alert near you can reach you. It is replaced each time you open the app and is deleted when you delete your account. To stop it, turn off location for FetchWise in your phone settings.
Maps, calendar and microphone
Maps of nearby vets are drawn by Google Maps. If you allow calendar access, the reminders you set are also added to a FetchWise calendar on your phone; the app never reads your other events. The microphone is used only while you speak to Sage: the recording is sent to OpenAI to be turned into text, then deleted from your phone, and FetchWise does not keep it.
Sage, our AI assistant
When you ask Sage a question, the question, your pet's profile and recent records, and any photo, document or voice note you add are sent to OpenAI in the United States so its AI can answer. Documents you scan are read the same way. OpenAI does not use this to train its AI and deletes it after at most 30 days.
Sage is not a vet. It helps you understand and decide when to see one, and it tells you plainly when to go now. FetchWise does not keep your conversations with Sage, only the notes you choose to save. The app asks your permission before your first question to Sage; you can say no and still use the rest of the app.
Clinics
A clinic sees your pet's records only after you allow it in the app, and you can stop a clinic at any time in your Clinic list. Records a clinic sends you are marked as coming from that clinic and cannot be changed in the app. When you book a visit or send a summary, the clinic receives what the screen shows you before you send.
A clinic using FetchWise Clinic may choose to share anonymous cases with us so Sage can learn from them. Before anything leaves the clinic, the owner's name, phone and address, the pet's name and Pet ID, exact dates and the clinic's name are taken out. What remains (the kind of animal, its signs, findings, diagnosis and treatment) cannot be traced back to you or your pet.
Lost and found pets
A lost or found alert you post, with your pet's description and photo, is shown to FetchWise families nearby. Your phone number is shared only with the other family when a lost pet and a found pet match. Old alerts are removed automatically.
Links you share
A passport link or a one-time link for your vet opens for whoever you send it to. You can stop all your links at any time in the app.
This website
This website uses Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are opened, roughly which city a visit comes from, and the kind of device. It sets cookies for that. It does not know who you are, and nothing from the app goes into it. You can block it with your browser's privacy settings.
Where your data is kept
Your account and records are kept by Google Firebase in India (Delhi). Photos and documents are stored by Google Firebase in the United States. Sage's answers come from OpenAI in the United States. Everything travels encrypted.
